Newsletter #2 / May 2004

May the JOY of EASTER be in your hearts ALL Year long. Welcome to the SECOND issue of the JCCHURCHES.net newsletter, during this May of 2004. I am George McMillin, your web servant.

I hope you had the opportunity to see the article of our site in the Daily Union, April 22. Now, you have a face to attach to the site. I would like to say; “Thank you!” to both, Linda Gilmore for writing the great article, and Pastor Brad Dyrness (The Church of the Nazarene) for the supportive statements.

I was raised in a very religious family. I was taught that we are all in the family of God. So I would like to reach out to all of you, my brothers and sisters, to share that family tie. We are the children of God. (1 Jn 3:1)

My goal is to link all churches in the area of Junction City, Kansas. Our directory listing will be a valuable tool for religious leaders, religious seekers, and local organizations.

I have already received great interest from our local Church Women United (http://www.jcchurches.net/cwu.html) and the Ministerial Alliance.

They have access to the calendar, with which they could place upcoming events. And I wish that more of our enrolled churches would take advantage of this powerful tool; http://www.calsnet.net/jcall .  If you would like to enroll, to be able to add events into the ALL church calendar, than contact me at george@jcchurches.net .

            Upcoming events are:

  • Women’s Retreat (Church of Deliverance Women’s Retreat 2004) – [April 30th – May 2nd] http://www.codeliverance.org/wretreat.htm for more info.
  • National Prayer Breakfast - Thursday, May 6 – 6:45 a.m.
The Municipal Building is the place to join with fellow Christians to pray for our community and our nation. Music will be provided by the JCHS Concert Choir. Tickets are $5.00.
  • FamilyWorks at Church of the Nazarene (
The focus of this event is on discovering what the family can be through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Communication, goal setting and encouragement are emphasized. There are no guilt trips or lectures, but rather positive facilitation of family sharing that will lead to Jesus being affirmed or reaffirmed as Lord of the home. Sign-up is required only for the Saturday workshops.

  • May Friendship Day, Friday, May 14th, planned by Church Women United. Join us 11:30 am at the First United Methodist, located at 804 N. Jefferson St.

If you have any events, that you would like others to know about, enroll with the jcchurches.net community, and then, you too could place them into the calendar.

I have extended the deadline for the trivia entries to June 20th, 2004.

So dust off that old cornerstone, and send in the year your church  (1) was built.

Look up to your steeple and find the (2) height. > >

Your church may not be tall, but it may cover a lot of  firm ground. (3) square footage How long has your congregation (4/5) [ oldest & newest ] been  worshiping?

The Good News reaches how many souls within your doors. (6/7)  most & fewest > >

>  >

This is an added bonus, from an idea presented by my six year old daughter; Ashley. If your church “WINS” one of these categories, then your listing is half off. PLUS,  I will highlight your church listing.

Attention: Web Prayer Warriors

I believe in the divine power of prayer, therefore, I have included a prayer request form on the website. By submitting a prayer into the form, it will be emailed to all those who will pray for that request.

Does your congregation have a prayer chain? (group) Ask them if they would like to receive emails with prayer requests from this area community. I could add them to the ever needed list of Prayer Warriors. If you, or someone you know, would be interested, send an email to ray@jcchurches.net">pray@jcchurches.net . If you already have an email address used for prayer requests, send that to me and we could link back.  You could then forward your requests to warriors@jcchurches.net .

Please pray for this ministry, as it will also be praying for your ministries as well.

>  >

If  you want to leave a more permanent prayer request or praises, then go to the forum entry located on the share ideas page. Here you could also place web page ideas or suggest links to be used.

[ Don’t forget the Free Links entry button, also located on the share page.]

If your church, organization, or business has a website, consider asking them to place a link to us.  If your organization or church does not have a website, or needs to update their current one, why not let me do that for you? (http://yours.at/webworks)

>  >

If you know of any tools or links that you would like included on this site, please reply to this newsletter with your ideas. After all, this site is for us all to share. If you know of someone whom you believe will enjoy receiving this newsletter via e-mail as you do, please share it with them; forward this email to them, or direct them to http://embark.to/pray.

Newsletter #1 / April '04

Welcome to the first JCCHURCHES.NET newsletter. I am George McMillin; your webservant . When I first started building websites, it was for St. Xavier Catholic Church - www.saintxaviers.com . I knew then that web ministry is my calling. We all know that God is our loving Father. We. as brothers and sisters, are called to live for each other (Jn. 15:12) . I believe that we can use the Information Super Highway (the internet ) to communicate the messages of our local religious community, and to help new individuals locate a prayerful fellowship.
My goal is to link all churches in the area of Junction City, Kansas. Our directory listing will be a valuable tool for religious leaders, religious seekers, and unifing organizations , such as the Ministorial Alliance and Church Women United.
Most online church directories offer only name, address, & phone information. I am building a portal in which our information will be shared to our whole community. Events at your organization can be shared on an ALL CHURCH calendar; http://www.calsnet.net/jcall.
If you haven't already, your church needs to be enrolled with me to obtain the calendar editor password. Enrolling assures the accuracy of your information, and also entitles you to
  1. the placement of your church within the publicly viewed listing,
  2. access to the MASTER LIST of churches,
  3. a web journal ,
  4. a free ''yourname''@jcchurches.net e-mail account (if desired), and
  5. many upcoming benefits.

The directory features an interactive city map. Please pardon me if my ''pen'' did not hit the exact spot of your church building. If you need me to move it (the dot / not your building), please contact me at george@jcchurches.net, and I will move it as soon as possible.
I have not yet received any trivia and/or histories of your churches. This idea was from my youngest daughter. This feature adds a sense of our home town pride and heritage. I would like to acknowledge the ''official'' Junction City website (www.jcks.com) for suppling the history trivia that I do have. They have added a link to us on their website as well.    (Thank You!)
I have been told that both JC Tourism and KJRL radiostation will soon add links to us also.

In the future, I should have a few upcoming events to share with you. Until then, please pray for this ministry, as I will also pray for your's as well.

If you have anything that you would like to include on the site, or in upcoming newsletters, please contact me at george@jcchurches.net.

Welcome

Thank you, for your reply to our directory listing enrollment request. Your listing has been added to http://www.jcchurches.net .  Even though only the paid listings are on the public side of the website, for your benefit I am including the “MASTER LIST” for your usage, located within the password protected area.  May it assist your intra-community church communications.  The all church calendar (http://www.calsnet.net/jcall) will be a great location to post events of interest to the patrons of all other churches.

I could also build other web pages for your ministry needs. Why not consider your own interactive calendar, or include a locator map to help visitors to find your church? Other pages could include a bulletin, ministry contacts, favorite links, pastor bio-page, prayer request form, guest book, and other items. Let me build up five personalized pages for you for $50. Added to that is the ability to add as many pages as you wish. I could show you how to add more, or you can have me do it for you for only $20/hr. (It usually takes less than 15 minutes, yet I charge a $5 minimum.) If you would rather build your own web pages, I highly recommend www.ForMinistry.com .

Do you have your own domain name?  If you do, then you already know the benefit of you patrons knowing the easily remembered internet address. I could assist your church in getting your internet presence established.  For $100, I will register your domain name for you for 3 years (A $27 value), plus build up to 10 pages in the initial setup of your site.  An additional $10/month is needed for the hosting/maintenance fees. Yet, being local, I will supply technical assistance and training for the life of your website. Compare these prices with web page building on the internet, and you will see that my prices are far below others.

My goal is to link all of the churches within the Junction City/ Geary County Area.

I hope that you will join our community.

>

 GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
